A-1 Moving & Storage Lends A Hand To New Student

August 24, 2009 | admin

For the 6th year in a row, A-1 Moving & Storage lends a hand with the move-in of new students at the FAU Wilkes Honors College in Jupiter. The FAU Faculty, staff and RA's help incoming students as they move into the Residence Hall and A-1 is there to assist with expertise and equipment to help make the event run smoothly.

As the new students and parents made their way to the circular drive in front of the residence hall, teams of volunteers were standing by to help them unload their cars and move their possessions into the dorm rooms. “The weather was rainy this year just like last year, but we were still able to get everyone moved in with minimum delays” said Andy Newitt, director of business development for A-1.

FAU’s Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and has admitted its most talented class. Comprised of 106 students, the class of 2013 includes 2 National Merit Finalists, 5 valedictorians, 2 salutatorians and 14 International Baccalaureate program graduates. Their average weighted GPA is 4.04, and the average SAT score is 1903. The students come from 23 Florida counties, 4 other U.S. states and 9 countries. Even with the challenges that the rain produced “This was another successful move-in day and our students should feel welcome” said Dr. Jeffrey Buller, Dean of the Honors College.

The Honors College is planning many anniversary events, please check our their website for future events.
