A-1 Moving and Storage supports the Cancer Alliance Of Help & Hope, Inc.

October 30, 2015 | Staff

In 1972 Louis and Jean Klause seized an opportunity to start a moving company in Jupiter, Florida. They knew they wanted to start a company that would make their family proud; a company that was built to last. Tom Klause, President of A-1 Moving & Storage since 1986, remembers his father acting odd one morning during his freshmen year of high school.

“He wanted to drive me to school. I thought, ‘that’s weird. He never does that.” In the car that morning Louis said “Tom, I’m starting a moving company, but only if one day you will take over the company,” explains Tom.

Tom has never looked back and in fact Tom continues to bring his own leadership style to the firm.  One such cornerstone of Tom’s is that he has indoctrinated into the firm the premise of corporate responsibility through community support and involvement in various charities.

October 2015 is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are proud to announce our support of the Cancer Alliance Of Help & Hope, Inc.  The Cancer Alliance Of Help & Hope’s (CAHH) primary focus is to help cancer patients, who live and/or receive treatment in Palm Beach County, with the following everyday living expenses:
  • Rent or mortgage
  • Food and other basic necessities
  • Utilities
  • Car payments
  • Auto and health insurance
  • Support Groups
CAHH is a local 501 (c)3 charity that is a grassroots, volunteer-governed charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of local individuals and their families who are touched by cancer.  They do this by providing; need-based financial assistance, information resources along with access to services and support groups in our community.   In the last decade, they have provided over $1,375,000 to help cancer patients and their families.  Visit them at www.cahh.org or call them at 561-748-7227.

Our leadership team, mentored by Tom much like he was guided by his father, have been passionately involved with CAHH for years.  In fact, Katie Klause-Newitt, Tom’s sister and Vice President of A-1 Moving and Storage, has been on the Board of Directors of CAHH for over 10 years.  As a result of this involvement and in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, A-1 Moving and Storage has generously agreed to donate a percentage of this month's  proceeds to them.

A-1 Moving & Storage is a family company led by the values: Excellence, Professionalism, and Integrity.  Tom knows his father founded the company on these values and today, these are the principles which define A-1.  “We are proud to continue to do our part for the Cancer Alliance Of Help & Hope, and to help those affected by cancer in any way we can.  We believe that businesses can exist for a greater purpose other than the bottom line. We have a responsibility to care for our employees, customers and community.   All of it is important and it reminds us that we are part of something larger than ourselves” said Tom.
